I think I might have impressed Darling Daughter, a feat not easily accomplished.
While driving along with the radio tuned to my favorite Oldies station - like music from the 70's is considered OLD - (DON'T SAY IT!!!!) - what should come on but "American Pie". The long version. Which I sang along to and KNEW ALL THE WORDS.
I really think I impressed Daughter. I mean, she kept looking at me out of the corner of her eye. And she didn't make any snarky 13-year-old comments.
To all you fellow middle-aged moms out there: Rock on with your bad selves.

Ha! You got here! Good for you!
Ummm...being the mom of a couple of teens myself, I hope I don't offend you when I say........
Maybe she was struck speechless by the whole experience? LOL
It's happened to me before, is all I'm sayin'. :)
hehe, were you dancing as you sang, too? I think Melisa's wrong, I think she was in AWE of your masterly accomplishment! woot Kathy! julie from home
I could've sang all the words too and proud of it!!!
Yay! Props for MOM!
I know you said "don't say it" but I have to break it to you - even music from the 80s is now considered oldies music, or "classic rock" if you prefer.
I love American Pie. Rock on.
It was just a suggestion: I'm willing to be wrong! LOL (Happens all the time!)
So okay, I'm "wooting" you with everybody else! ROFL!
You go girl! Good for you. I had a similar experience when my nephew and I were in the car together and I was singing along with all the oldies. He asked, "how do YOU know all the words?" I responded, "well, honey, these songs were hits when I was a teenager." He had a very surprised look on his face. LOL!
Ha Ha!!! Don't you love those moments.. I know all of the words to this 80's Rap Song, "It Takes Two" by Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock (I know this.. it says so right in the middle of the song) My kids think its HILARIOUS that their OLD Mom knows this song, is a rap a song, I dunno. Anywhoo.. I love it!
I love that song! And my oldest is 9, so we're busy singing to annoy him ON PURPOSE. :)
